Senator Ochoa Bogh Congratulates the 2025 Minerva Scholarship Recipients Selected from Senate District 19

Senator Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh (R‑Yucaipa) is proud to announce that Nicole Castro and Cassidy Pettigrew, residents of Senate District 19, have been selected to receive a 2025 Minerva Scholarship.

“It is a true honor to celebrate opportunities that help women achieve their dreams through higher education,” said Senator Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh. “Nicole and Cassidy have shown such determination, commitment, and heart in their educational and extracurricular activities. I am inspired by their drive and know they will make a lasting difference in the lives of others. Congratulations!”

About the Recipients

Nicole Castro of Cathedral City is a first-generation student and entrepreneur who launched two businesses while still in high school and, more recently, started her own photography company. She has served as a leader with the Cathedral City High School (CCHS) Equity Ambassador student‑led organization, captained the girls’ volleyball team, and completed internships with Desert Regional Medical Center and the CCHS Athletics Department. Nicole has been accepted to the University of California, Berkeley.

Cassidy Pettigrew of Apple Valley is a first‑generation college student and dedicated community volunteer. She has held leadership roles as Key Club Secretary and Vice President, Lead Explainer at the Apple Valley Center for Innovation, and Secretary of the National Honor Society. Cassidy has been accepted to the University of California, Berkeley, where she plans to study social and political sciences with aspirations toward law and journalism.

WiCL Minerva Scholarship is awarded to eligible female students admitted to or currently enrolled at an accredited college or university. The winners are selected from a highly competitive pool based on their intellectual energy, scholastic achievement, community involvement, and work history. The scholarships are distributed by Women in California Leadership (WiCL) in collaboration with the California Legislative Women’s Caucus.
