Worthen, a remarkable individual, is the founder of the Pass Area Veterans Expo. This annual event, held in Beaumont, is a crucial platform for military personnel, veterans, and their families to connect with the services they need. Under Worthen's exceptional leadership, the Expo has become a regional success, drawing support from an extensive network of community members and service organizations. Over the years, the event has grown tremendously, with more than 300 veterans and their families attending each year.
Worthen is herself the widow of a Vietnam War veteran. Worthen's dedication to helping veterans and their families in the community is a true inspiration.
The Woman of the Year award is given annually by each California legislator in their district, celebrates California’s extraordinary women. The first recognition was held in 1987 to help commemorate Women’s History Month. The award has become an annual Capitol tradition to salute women who have done outstanding community service.
