Senate Fellows Program Applications Now Open

Sen. Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh (R-Yucaipa) is excited to announce that applications are now open for the 2026-27 California Senate Fellows program.

“The Senate Fellows Program offers an unparalleled opportunity to see firsthand how state government works,” said Senator Ochoa Bogh. “Fellows gain practical skills and insights that serve them well in various career paths. I encourage motivated young leaders who want to make a difference to take advantage of this unique experience.”

This esteemed program offers college graduates the unique opportunity to serve as full-time staff members in the California State Senate, stationed at the State Capitol in Sacramento. The fellowship, spanning 11 months, commences in October of each year.

Fellows work in a Senator's personal office or committee staff, tackling challenging tasks and responsibilities while participating in academic seminars with legislators, journalists, and state government officials.

The role of a Senate Fellow is diverse, encompassing a wide array of activities within member offices.

Duties include policy research, legislative proposal development, bill analysis and staffing, addressing constituent inquiries and issues, representing their member in meetings, crafting press releases and speeches, and undertaking other assigned responsibilities.

The program kicks off with a seven-week orientation, offering insights into state government, legislative procedures, and key policy matters.

Eligibility is open to anyone who will be a minimum of 20 years old and a graduate of a four-year college or university by September 1 of the fellowship year. Individuals holding advanced degrees and those in mid-career stages are also welcome to apply, with no specific major preference.

The application deadline is set for December 8, 2025, at 11:59pm (PST).
